Brow & Eyelid Surgery
The eyes speak for us without making a sound. If heavy eyebrows or saggy eyelids are telling others you are tired, angry, or sad, even when you are not, Dr. Mahlon Kerr and Dr. Amy Bekanich can improve that message. Women and men visit them near Austin for eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty), brow lifts, and many other procedures for the face and body performed with skill, innovation, and attention to patient comfort.

Your Options
When it comes to rejuvenating the eye area, Dr. Kerr and Dr. Bekanich will develop a unique solution for your facial structure and aesthetic goals. Whether you're a woman or a man, these procedures can help you look younger and more attractive. Your options include:
- Eyelid surgery: Many patients choose blepharoplasty alone to refresh their eye area. It can enhance the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both areas depending on your needs.
- Brow lift: For men and women living in the Austin area, a brow lift opens up a welcoming expression by lifting a heavy brow and smoothing out horizontal forehead creases. This procedure is also referred to as a forehead lift.
- Combined eyelid surgery and brow lift: By combining these procedures patients can erase years from their appearance and look refreshed.
When you visit one of our board-certified plastic surgeons for your consultation, he or she will ask you to describe the improvements you'd like to make. We strive to rejuvenate your face while keeping a natural look. For patients with less advanced signs of aging, your doctor might recommend an injectable filler or BOTOX® Cosmetic in Austin to soften forehead creases or crow's feet.
What to Expect
Dr. Kerr and Dr. Bekanich perform brow lift and eyelid surgery using general anesthesia in a hospital setting. They prefer to perform brow lift as a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure because it requires only tiny incisions and less recovery time. The incisions are concealed in the upper eyelid crease and inside the lower eyelid or along the lower lash line.
After your surgery, elevating your head as much as possible (even while sleeping) will minimize swelling and bruising. You may be able to return home soon after surgery, or you may choose to stay overnight at the hospital. You will likely be able to resume light activity within 7 to 10 days; but, you will need to avoid more strenuous activity, including vigorous exercise, for at least the first month.
