Brenda’s Tummy Tuck & Breast Reconstruction

Trish

Sometimes luck can be even better than diligence.

Brenda had just started searching for a plastic surgeon in the Austin area to perform a tummy tuck when her then-husband discussed her situation with an acquaintance. The other man said his wife was a plastic surgeon. It turned out to be Dr. Lauren Crawford.

“I was just beginning my search and was focusing on finding a female surgeon that I felt comfortable with,” Brenda says. “After meeting Dr. Crawford once, I knew she was the one I would trust with doing my procedure.” Two years after having triplets, Brenda was ready to reclaim her body. As a mother of 5 children, she knew the recovery following tummy tuck surgery would be challenging.

Two years after having triplets, Brenda was ready to reclaim her body. As a mother of 5 children, she knew the recovery following tummy tuck surgery would be challenging.

“I had scoured the internet researching how a tummy tuck was done, so I knew the recovery was not an easy one,” says Brenda. “That’s especially true in my case with five children. Meeting Dr. Crawford, engaging in conversation and feeling how confident of a surgeon she is really set my mind at ease. I felt that she cared about me from her heart and wanted the best results for me.”

Fortunately, she didn’t experience any complications during the recovery.

“The most difficult part was the first seven days walking bent at the waist,” Brenda says. “Sleeping in a recliner for the first couple weeks helped—having a young set of triplets wanting to climb on me did not.” Brenda, whose other children were 6 and 8 at the time of the surgery in 2011, says she discussed her tummy tuck plans with close friends and family, but wasn’t concerned about if other people knew she was getting cosmetic surgery.

“After carrying triplets to nearly 34 weeks, I was so excited to be having a tummy tuck.”

The results, she says, were completely worth it.

“Once the incision had healed,” Brenda says, “the results were very obvious. The excess skin I had from being pregnant was gone and my stomach was flat again! My flat, tight stomach is, without a doubt, the best part of having had a tummy tuck.”

The tummy tuck, unfortunately, wouldn’t be the last time she would need Dr. Crawford’s surgical talents. Four years after the abdominoplasty, Brenda chose to undergo a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She didn’t hesitate to choose Dr. Crawford to perform the reconstructive surgery.

“Her confidence, her sincerity, and her compassion, in addition to her surgical skill, makes Dr. Crawford special.”

As a now-single mom raising 5 children and working on starting a bookkeeping business, Brenda remains busier than ever. She says the results of the tummy tuck are amazing to this day.

“I get a lot of compliments and have people ask me how I can look this good after having triplets.”

Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
