Susan’s Breast Lift With Implant & Tummy Tuck

Susan

As a mother of 9 children, Susan understands the toll that childbirth can take on a woman’s body. When her 60th birthday began to get closer, she finally decided to get a Mommy Makeover at our Austin plastic surgery practice.

“I never had any thoughts of ever having plastic surgery,” Susan says. “I had lost a lot of weight, I was older. Everything was kind of deflated and hanging everywhere. And I thought, well, I can’t go anywhere but up from here.”

Doing Her Due Diligence

Susan, who has 27 grandchildren and who works for the Austin Health Department, started planning for the surgery 2 years before making her first appointment. Most patients do some research before getting cosmetic surgery, but Susan’s diligence was pretty remarkable.

“I wanted to get as much information as I could on the options available, as well as the risks involved, so I would be prepared,” she says. “I talked to my friends who had had plastic surgery to see how they felt and what they had gone through. I did a lot of Googling.”

One other bit of personal experience assisted in Susan finding her way to Synergy Plastic Surgery. Her husband, Norman, had a procedure performed by Dr. Lauren Crawford, so Susan decided to schedule a consultation with her. That meeting, along with Dr. Crawford’s training and experience, helped Susan make up her mind.

“She’s kind, personable, she makes you feel comfortable,” Susan said of Dr. Crawford, who’s certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Houston native. “It’s not just a doctor-patient relationship. She makes you feel like a friend.”

After 2 years of research, you can bet Susan was excited when the day of the surgery finally arrived.

“I couldn’t wait for it to begin,” she says. “The day of the surgery went exactly as I expected. It was a great experience. Everyone was great. When I woke up after surgery I actually don’t even remember going home.”

Impressed With the Synergy Team

In addition to getting a breast lift combined with implants, Susan also had a tummy tuck (a combination typically referred to as a Mommy Makeover.) The recovery includes multiple incisions and different areas of the body and can be a bit daunting in some cases, but Susan says it really wasn’t too bad.

“I did have a little bit of discomfort and pain, but not much and it went away and from there everything was smooth sailing. No problems.”

She was impressed that the Synergy team, including Dr. Crawford, kept close tabs on her progress to ensure she wasn’t experiencing any complications. About 6 weeks after the surgery, Susan recalls looking at the results and thinking,” Oh my god, this is incredible.”

For Susan and her husband, who enjoy being outdoors hiking, swimming, or even just walking, the best thing about getting a Mommy Makeover is that she says she feels 20 years younger.

“I don’t have to tuck my stomach into my pants and my clothes fit so much better,” she says. “I can actually buy clothes off the rack.”

Susan says the one worry she had was that she wouldn’t look natural. Thanks to Dr. Crawford, she says, those worries were unfounded. She is thrilled that her breasts and abdomen look remarkable, yet still look natural and age-appropriate.

“I just wish I would’ve done it earlier in life after I had my children, instead of waiting. It was the best thing I could have ever done.”

Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
