Benefits
In Austin, rhinoplasty is popular with women and men of all ages. It can even be performed on teens if their facial development is complete. People choose this procedure for their own personal reasons, which often include one or more of the following:
- Making the nose smaller or larger
- Sculpting away a hump or bump, or narrowing the bridge of the nose
- Reducing or increasing nostril size
- Correcting damage due to trauma and restoring free breathing (for these conditions, the procedure may be covered by your medical insurance)
- Improving balance between facial features by combining with facial implants
During your consultation, Dr. Kerr or Dr. Bekanich will allow plenty of time for you to describe what you'd like to change about your nose and will take the time to answer your questions. Both doctors put patients at ease with their friendly, approachable personalities and help patients develop realistic expectations. Women and men who visit Dr. Kerr and Dr. Bekanich near Austin combine facelift surgery with rhinoplasty for an even more attractive outcome, when appropriate.
What to Expect
Dr. Kerr and Dr. Bekanich perform rhinoplasty in a hospital setting while the patient is under general anesthesia. Most patients have the choice of making it an outpatient procedure or staying in the hospital for one night. They perform the surgery through incisions inside the nose and along natural facial creases, so scars won't be noticeable.
After your surgery, elevating your head as much as possible (even while sleeping) will minimize swelling and bruising. Initially, cold compresses can also help. You will likely be able to resume light activity within 7 to 10 days; but, you will need to avoid more strenuous activity, including vigorous exercise, for at least the first month.
