Benefits

A breast lift, technically called mastopexy, is appropriate for women of all ages and body types. Because every woman who visits Synergy Plastic Surgery is unique, our surgeons strive to give each one of them natural-looking results that enhance their own beauty. Women choose breast lift surgery for a variety of improvements, including:

  • Restoring a firm, sculpted breast shape
  • Repositioning breasts that are aligned unevenly
  • Reducing enlarged areolas (the dark skin around the nipple)
  • Improving self-confidence

When you visit us for your consultation, your surgeon will help you determine the plan that will best help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Many women make a breast lift part of their Mommy Makeover during which a tummy tuck is combined with breast enhancement for a more complete improvement in a single surgery. Your surgeon may recommend combining your breast lift with breast augmentation to give you the breast size and shape you want.

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost in Austin?

Breast lift prices in and around Austin, Texas, depend on several factors, including the incision site, the amount of skin removed, and whether or not the patient wants implants. The cost is higher for patients getting breast lifts after losing significant weight because more time is needed in the operating room. During your consultation, your doctor provides you with a written quote that reflects your specific surgery. For more information, visit our Pricing page.

What to Expect

Our surgeons perform breast lift surgery as an outpatient procedure in our private, AAAASF surgical facility to optimize patient safety. Breast lift patients have the option of an overnight stay for the first night if desired. Our surgeons are skilled in a variety of breast lift techniques (see table) and will personalize the one that is best suited to your needs and aesthetic goals.

During the procedure, your surgeon lifts and reshapes the breasts by removing stretched skin, excess fat, and tissue. He can even out breast size and reshape the areolas as well, if desired. He may place internal sutures to retain the rejuvenated breast shape and secure the breasts higher on the chest.

Common Questions

How do I know whether I need an augmentation or a lift?

It’s common for patients to know they want to improve the look of their breasts but to be unsure which enhancement procedure is best for them. In general, women who pursue breast lift surgery are satisfied with the size of their breasts but unhappy with their positions. Their nipples may point downward or extend below the breast crease.

Although some sagging is a natural part of the aging process, many breast lift patients feel that their breasts sag significantly or prematurely. Breast augmentation patients, on the other hand, usually wish to enlarge their breasts or correct an asymmetry.

If you’re still having trouble deciding, the good news is that you can undergo both procedures at once. At Synergy Plastic Surgery, our plastic surgeons routinely combine breast augmentation and lift into a single surgery to give their patients the fuller, younger-looking breasts they desire.

Can you make my breasts fuller without adding breast implants to my breast lift?

Yes. Our surgeons can use fat grafting to enhance the size and shape of your breasts with your own body fat. This technique is a natural alternative to breast implants and is best used to add extra fullness to the upper portion of the breasts.

When can I go back to work after a breast lift?

Because a breast lift does not affect the chest muscle, recovery is usually quick. You will likely be ready to return to a non-strenuous job within a week. It is important to avoid vigorous exercise for 4 to 5 weeks while any swelling dissipates and your breasts heal into their rejuvenated shape.

What will my scars look like?

This depends on the type of incisions your doctor uses during your surgery. In general, more significant lifts require larger incisions. During your consultation, your doctor helps you understand which incision is best for you. In general, breast lift surgery requires one of the following incision types:

  • Doughnut, which traces around the areola
  • Lollipop, which traces around the areola and extends down the breast to the crease
  • Anchor, which traces around the areola, extends down the breast, and traces horizontally along the crease

Our plastic surgeons make every effort to keep incisions as conservative as possible. By adhering to your doctor’s recommendations for caring for yourself after surgery, you can do your part to help your incisions heal to flat, faint scars.

Can I get a breast lift when I replace my implants?

Yes, during a breast augmentation revision procedure, your surgeon can perform a breast lift if he/she believes it’s the best approach. Her/his recommendation will be based on an examination of your breast tissue and skin.

How long will the results last?

Breast lift surgery doesn’t completely stop the aging process, but it can delay it quite a bit and keep your breasts looking much younger than they would without surgery. The longevity of your results depends on a few different factors, including how significant your surgical lift was, the condition of your skin, and the size of your breasts.

Regardless, you can expect to enjoy your results for at least several years, especially by keeping your weight stable. Your doctor can give you a better estimation during your consultation.
