Does CoolSculpting Hurt? What To Expect Before, During, and After

Synergy Plastic Surgery

If you’re considering trying CoolSculpting for the first time at our Austin or Round Rock locations, you probably have a few questions about what the experience will actually be like, from what you’ll physically feel to how long you should plan on being in our office. Our helpful team will guide you through the entire process, but having an idea of what’s in store ahead of time can make your experience even more enjoyable.

In this blog post, I’ll answer a few common questions about what to expect before, during, and after your first CoolSculpting appointment.

What happens during a CoolSculpting consultation?

The consultation is the first step in your CoolSculpting journey. When you visit us for your first appointment, you will meet with one of our CoolSculpting University-trained specialists to discuss your goals for the procedure and map out a custom treatment plan to help you achieve them.

Once your specialist determines that you’re an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting, he or she will start your first session right then—there’s typically no prep work or additional scheduling necessary.

How long do CoolSculpting treatments take?

CoolSculpting only takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on which area or areas you’re treating. At Synergy MedSpa, we’re happy to offer DualSculpting, which uses 2 machines at the same time and allows you to get double the results without adding any time to your treatment.

Does CoolSculpting hurt?

Most people don’t find CoolSculpting to be painful. In fact, it’s so comfortable that it doesn’t require the use of any anesthetic. The most significant sensations you’ll feel are tugging or suction as your treatment area is pulled into the applicator and intense cold for 5 to 10 minutes before your treatment area goes numb. After that, you’ll be comfortable enough to read, relax, or even nap.

How long does it take to recover after a CoolSculpting treatment?

You shouldn’t need to take any time away from your routine to recover. You may experience redness, swelling, or even mild bruising for a couple of days after your treatment. Your skin may also be sensitive or tender in the treatment areas during this time. However, all of these side effects are temporary, and they typically don’t stop people from returning to their usual activities, including exercise, right away.

How often can I get CoolSculpting treatments?

Many people choose to get at least 2 treatments to achieve their best results, and we recommend spacing these a or month or 2 apart. You should see your peak results around this time, which will allow you to decide whether you’d like additional treatments.

Our CoolSculpting University-trained specialists are ready to answer any questions you may have about the treatment and the results you can expect.
